Missouri's DHSS reported new medical marijuana business applications updates.
"As of Feb. 20, 2019, a total of 434 pre-filed application forms and fees totaling $3,128,000 have been received by DHSS."
Cultivation Facilities 131
Dispensary Facilities 237
Medical Marijuana-infused Manufacturing Facilities 66
Please note, under Amendment 2 the DHSS must award a minimum of
192 dispensary licenses, (24 per each of Missouri's 8 congressional districts)
61 cultivation licenses and
82 infused-product manufacturer licenses.
Amendment 2 also calls for 2 Missouri licensed testing facilities.
Amendment 2 also provides for home cultivation
up to six plants for patients,
up to 18 plants for registered caregivers .
The Missouri DHSS began accepting 'pre-filed licensing fees' for medical marijuana business applications on Jan. 5th, 2019, as per the language of Amendment 2. They do not ensure approval. They are not refundable. The opportunities provided remain historical for local residents, patients, doctors and businesses.
Patient fee is $25 per year
Cultivation fees: $10,000 apply, then $25,000 annually
Infused-products fees: $6,000 apply, then $10,000 annually
Dispensary fees: $6,000 apply, then $10,000 annually
The road ahead will likely be similar to those of our fellow states of Colorado and Oklahoma. Amendment 2 is a good law. Not perfect. No laws are (cue attorneys.)
Missouri has great opportunities to balance safe patient access with responsible business models. Cannabis is after all a plant with thousands of years of documented use for holistic, medical, religious and recreational functions.
